Enjoying life in Florida!
Enjoying life in Florida!

Hello, and thank you for checking out my blog.  I wanted to let you get to know a little bit about me. My name is Ani and I have always loved to bake and cook. I’m a creative person by nature and cooking and baking is a wonderful medium to work with. I love to eat too. Especially desserts!

I grew up on a farm in the Midwest and I come from over 800 years of farming ancestry.  My father always had a huge garden. The fresh rhubarb was always my favorite!

In the past decade, I’ve noticed an increasing effect on both myself and my husband when we ate at restaurants or ate processed food.  I began baking my own bread, making my own granola bars, pizza crust, pesto, pasta, all desserts, you name it, I have just about made it all.  I have even made my own graham crackers because I wanted to make cheesecake, and couldn’t find any store bought ones that weren’t filled with chemicals.

Inspiration

I’m German and Norwegian and both cultures have so many wonderful traditional foods, and my parents made sure my siblings and I had an appreciation for all these great dishes.  I’m excited to share these wonderful recipes with you!

A few years ago, I opened an in-home bakery which was very well received by the community.

Recently in June of 2015, my husband and I made a huge decision and relocated to the sunny State of Florida. Due to our relocation, my bakery business is pretty much on hold at this time. So I decided to finally share some of my fabulous recipes that I’ve been creating over the last few years.  So was born, Real Recipes and More.

Real Recipes and More is a site where you will find the most fabulous recipes that are about 99% from scratch. You won’t see one of my recipes start with the words, “1 box yellow cake mix”, or “1 can cream of mushroom soup”, as many food blogs do. I always try to use the most natural, wholesome, and organic ingredients as possible. No, I’m not out there milking my own cows, but I might be picking my own cucumbers at times or, at least cooking a raw chicken breast instead of opening a can of chicken. I believe in eating as clean as possible while still actually living life. So if you are going to eat something indulgent, let it be free of extra chemicals and flavor additives.
