It’s really easy, I promise!

Would you be surprised to hear that Blue Cheese Dressing is really easy to make?  Well, it is. Years ago I would never have thought of making my own dressings. Now, I never buy salad dressing at the store. I promise, once you try it, you’ll make all of yours as well. I’ve come up with several different dressing recipes and none of them use mayonnaise as a base either. I’ve been quite disappointed to go to a restaurant and they say it’s homemade dressing and you can taste that they’ve used miracle whip as a base.

So many options for Blue Cheese Dressing!

This dressing is delectable on salads, like my Mason Jar Salad, of course, but when you use it as a dipping sauce for appetizers such as jalapeno poppers or buffalo wings and celery sticks, it’s heaven. Make up a triple batch for a game day party with those wings and set yourself apart from all the people serving up jarred store-bought Blue Cheese Dressing.

I use my homemade Buffalo Sauce and this dressing/dip to make several different meals too. Make a buffalo chicken salad by adding buffalo chicken tenders to that plain old salad. Plus there’s Buffalo Chicken Mac-N-Cheese. Another great option is Buffalo Chicken Pizza. I’ll do a post on that one of these days too. My BCP is the best my husband and I have ever had.  After it comes out of the oven I slice it up and drizzle with the blue cheese dressing. Do the same for the Mac-N-Cheese. You could try any of these with tofu in lieu of chicken if you are a vegetarian.  The buffalo sauce is spicy enough to give the tofu the flavor. Perhaps try breading the tofu and using the typical spices that one might use for buffalo chicken tenders. Serve a more carb-loaded creation such as the pizza and mac and cheese with a side cup of blue cheese dressing and cut up celery sticks.

Come on, give this a try!

I highly urge you to give this a try today. What’s so great is that you really end up saving money on purchasing those expensive dressings from the store and you aren’t consuming all of the preservatives and chemicals that come in most of the ones that are available these days.

Another reason to make it yourself is that if you pick up even the supposed healthiest brands of dressing, they almost always use soybean or canola oil.  These oils while once thought to be healthy, are now known to cause some health issues, so using your own organic extra virgin olive oil is a big plus for you, health wise.  You can try some other truly healthy oils as well. I’ve tried Walnut Oil, Hazelnut Oil, Avocado Oil, and several others. Those tend to be more pricey though so as a general rule I stick with my organic EVOO.

Enjoy!
